Dear Reader,
Some analysts suggest that writing or reading about psychoanalysis while undergoing the process is not appropriate, but I read everything I could get my hands on. I also kept a written account of the analytic relationship from the first day in January 1990 to the last day in June 1994.
I have literally thousands of pages. In dozens of notebooks. Some of the entries are typed; others are handwritten. Slowly, I am transcribing the entries and placing them on-line.
It is my intent to bear witness to the events that unfolded in the therapy room that I inhabited. Perhaps others will benefit from my experience. - Esther Altshul Helfgott
